UNCONSCIOUS BLINDNESS: When your eyes are open but you can’t see

I’ve looked for milk so many times without finding it! Of course I know its in the fridge. My wife so often looks for her glasses …that lay on her head, as a hair holder!! I can’t count the times I’ve searched for something without finding it till I looked for a third, fourth time to finally discover it.

I call that unconscious blindness.

Sometimes it’s willing blindness. You know that sock that’s been laying around in your closet and you don’t “see” it anymore or that mug you left in your car for days (dare I say weeks!). You have stopped seeing the things that need to be picked or cleaned up. And all this does is add clutter to you, your mind, your environment.

The same applies to your personal, professional and spiritual life. There are things that happen to you, events you create and beliefs you sustain that will blind you to growth, success, and dare I say, a brighter future.

Pain blinds you to provision

When relational hurts and wounds cripple you, you are blinded to the provision of good people around you. When rejection stings you, blindness hits you in the gut and you forget that there is something else beyond this situation. Pain forbids you to believe that God has your best interest in mind. Yet, provision is yours to get and receive.

Problems blind you to possibilities

Possibilities lie on the dark side of the moon while challenges are what you see! Aren’t there enough problems? Let’s provide some solutions and possibilities. A small change in perspective can allow you to see things differently. In math, a problem is something to solve. Relationships? The same. Business? No different.

Obstacles blind you to opportunities

When the going gets tough, the tough get going we say. Everyone has heard of the Bible story when David battles the giant Goliath, the small against the big, the underdog facing the favorite. One of the principles you can get from this is that obstacles become an opportunity to grow, to face difficulties head on and win. Obstacles are a stepping stone like colonel William Prescott said it.  And tons of worthwhile opportunities are just in front of you.

So what is blinding you right now?
